In practical terms, NMDC is bringing several stages of the iron ore value chain closer together: mining → processing → slurry transportation → pelletisation → steelmaking.
The pellet plant uses Straight Grate Induration technology and has an annual capacity of 2 million tonnes. Its commissioning also gives NMDC a new value-added product instead of relying only on the sale and movement of mined ore.
