In a major operation against illegal arms trafficking, Mizoram Police seized seven Avtomat Kalashnikov (AK) assault rifles along with 2,050 rounds of live ammunition near Thingsai village in Hnahthial district, close to the India-Myanmar border.
The seizure was made after officials of Thingsai Police Station acted on specific intelligence inputs. Police intercepted a maxicab travelling from Cherhlun village towards Lunglei town and recovered the weapons during a search near the Tuiphai River bridge.
