According to the committee, the Prime Minister's address to students and young people on examination reforms and action against paper leaks remained unavailable on Facebook for nearly five to six hours. Calling the incident a matter of serious concern, the panel asked Zuckerberg to issue an apology within three days.
The committee also warned that if a satisfactory response is not received, it may recommend reviewing the legal protections available to the platform under the applicable framework.
The panel further urged the Government of India to examine action against Google India in connection with alleged investment frauds carried out through fake mobile applications.
